Seattle Torrent 0
Minnesota Frost 3
PWHL Regular Season – November 28, 2025
Seattle, WA – Climate Pledge Arena

The Seattle Torrent played their first home PWHL match at Climate Pledge Arena on Friday afternoon. The expansion Torrent are launching within the same calendar year as the PWHL Takeover Tour match in January between Boston and Montreal. The neutral match led to a Spring expansion announcement. Now, barely six months later, a large and fantastic crowd rocked their new home ice.
Facing the two time defending champs Minnesota Frost added an edge to the on ice part of the celebration.
The Torrent also had played their actual opener on the road against fellow expansion side Vancouver Goldeneyes last weekend. An overtime loss had still got the first match out of the way.

The opening period was mostly Seattle on the front foot, with the Frost seeming ready to counter.
Several early shots and saves kept the crowd loud as from the opening ceremonies. The arena just seemed ready to just erupt, but the first goal just stayed out of reach.
Late in the period, the Frost would grab the goal. Kelly Pannek would flick one just over the glove of Torrent goalie Corinne Schroeder just off the inside of the post into the net. The single goal would carry into the first intermission.

The second period again was mostly Seattle early, as the hosts kept the Frost from getting a shot on goal well past the middle of the period. Lexie Adzija was put in the box with the first penalty of the game, but the Seattle penalty kill held off the Minnesota power play.
Minutes laterm the Frost would get a second power play opportunity. Seattle would kill it off, too. However, the two penalties on continued single goal margin only made the crowd louder and louder and more involved.
The crowd was ready to explode, but the goals still were waiting.
The second period would end still with the single goal by Minnesota on the board.

Minnesota would eventually break it open in the third period. Pannek would net her second. Grace Zumwinkle would have a goal confirmed on review making it a three goal lead with just over six minutes remaining.
The Frost would see out the match goalless defensively, even as Seattle went empty net for the final three plus minutes and pushed for at least a goal.
The Frost played a smart match, weathering an early Seattle push and nabbing the early goal. Seattle pushed, but the combination of goalkeeping and team defense meant the Torrent was going to find it tough to break through. Even in defeat, the expansion Torrent have much to build on and a few moments here or there, especially in the first period, could have really altered the course of the game.
The attendance passed the 16,000 mark, making it the highest attendance at a women’s hockey game ever in the US.

The Torrent honored Seattle Reign FC legend Jessica Fishlock as the ceremonial first puck dropper.
